But yes, the database is still online.Jenniferhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03251821175075255774noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-285718222503172945.post-70744014281311114562009-01-31T14:12:00.000-08:002009-01-31T14:12:00.000-08:00A correction: Jewish Records Indexing - Poland (a....A correction: Jewish Records Indexing - Poland (a.k.a. JRI-Poland) was *not* axed by the Polish government -- all the data is still online and still free! (They're a 501(c) non-profit.)

There did use to be an online ordering system there for some of the records, so if you wanted to order a specific one you could just click "order" add it to your shopping cart and easily get the original file direct from Poland. That system ended, alas. But you can still order records from the Polish archives using the indices in the online database, but you have to set up the request manually and mail the letter to the archives yourself and do the money conversion yourself, which is a pain.

But the database is still there and it's awesome. :-)Asparagirlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07251238650076131241noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-285718222503172945.post-76708916492601955762009-01-14T16:36:00.000-08:002009-01-14T16:36:00.000-08:00Ditto to what you both say about the South Carolin...Ditto to what you both say about the South Carolina death records - I am having a great time adding information to my South Carolina families; this is as good as when the Texas Death Certificates came out on the Family Search pilot site.

Also, thanks for the tip on the Illinois Genealogy Trails site - that's another common research area we have.Greta Koehlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05429623811794360612noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-285718222503172945.post-90315561994987179432009-01-12T21:12:00.000-08:002009-01-12T21:12:00.000-08:00I saw that you mentioned the SC Death records. I ...I saw that you mentioned the SC Death records. I absolutely love that ancestry added these! I have at least a third of my tree lines that lived in South Carolina and this new data has saved me a lot of money on death certificates. I'm able to search out records that I wouldn't spend money on, not knowing for sure if they belonged to my line or not.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10232674112099044776noreply@blogger.com
